Aloha House benefits from Ohana Fuels $7,116.06 donation!

On August 11, 2017, local nonprofit Aloha House received a $7,116.06 donation from Ohana Fuels as part of Hawaii Petroleum’s “Fuel up. Do good.” Community Giving Program. Aloha House was chosen to receive a portion of all TOP TIER™ gasoline purchases made at any of the eight Ohana Fuels locations on Maui between April 1 and June 30, 2017. Ohana Fuels also provided space and materials for two car washes at their Wakea Avenue Minit Stop gas station during the three month period, which raised an additional $398.

Aloha House promotes recovery and healthy lifestyles to individuals and families by providing compassionate, effective and comprehensive behavioral health services with the spirit of excellence and aloha. The organization helps more than 6,000 people each year through its substance abuse and mental health treatment programs. Residential and outpatient programs include a medically monitored detox facility, substance abuse/addiction treatment, a sober living program, crisis outreach services, family therapy services, community based case management and Maui Counseling Group clinic.

“We are tremendously grateful to Ohana Fuels for choosing Aloha House as one of its recipient organizations,” said Aloha House Chief Executive Officer, Jud Cunningham. “Funds raised will help ensure that under-served individuals and families can access our services in order to accomplish their recovery, vocational and personal goals. We strive to remove barriers to treatment, and this donation will help us cover the costs of providing care to individuals who otherwise would not be able to get help due to lack of financial resources.”

Aloha House’s two partner agencies – Maui Youth & Family Services and Malama Family Recovery Center – were chosen as Ohana Fuels’ “Fuel up. Do good.” program recipients in 2013 and 2015. “This most recent donation shows just how deeply dedicated the Ohana Fuels team is to making a difference in their community,” said Frances Duberstein, Aloha House/Maui Youth & Family Services/Malama Family Recovery Center Development Coordinator. “We deeply appreciate that Ohana Fuels understands that each of our agencies plays a unique, yet significant role in helping individuals and families affected by behavioral health and other related issues.”

Ohana Fuels first began the “Fuel up. Do good.” Community Giving Program in 2012 as part of its commitment to supporting organizations with missions important to its customers. Each year four different nonprofits or community groups on Maui and four on the Big Island are selected as beneficiary organizations. Ohana Fuels is Hawaii Petroleum’s retail fuel brand that provides competitively priced, quality fuels at safe, clean, and convenient locations including eight stations on the island of Maui, and eight stations on the island of Hawaii.
