(Hilo, Hawaii) – The YWCA of Hawaii Island Developmental Preschool was the most recent beneficiary of the Ohana Fuels “Fuel up. Do good.” Community Giving Program. Ohana Fuels partners with nonprofit organizations that serve the needs of the local community, and donates a portion of the proceeds from every gallon of gasoline purchased at Ohana Fuels stations in that community.  For January to June 2020, the typical quarterly donation period was extended to two quarters due to the Corona Virus pandemic.  Hawaii Island Ohana Fuels sales during that time, plus revenue from carwashes, resulted in a donation in the amount of $10,261.29 to YWCA of Hawaii Island Preschool.

Said Kathleen McGilvray, YWCA CEO, “We know that keiki who are hungry are not able to concentrate and pay attention in class.  Our preschool provides children with a USDA approved nutritious breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack.  We are so grateful for Ohana Fuels’ ‘Fuel up. Do good’, program, and our parents and staff who helped with our carwash.  She added, “The funds will help provide our keiki nutritious meals to build strong minds.”

“We are proud to support local nonprofit organizations like YWCA of Hawaii Island through our ‘Fuel up. Do good.’ program.” said Kimo Haynes, President of Hawaii Petroleum.  “Especially during these difficult times, their exceptional work with local residents and neighborhoods is extremely valuable.  We are thankful for the opportunity, and look forward to offering continued support in the future.”
