Neighborhood Place of Puna provides families with the support and resources they need to be successful in raising healthy children in a nurturing home environment. In the last year, Neighborhood Place of Puna helped 166 households through various programs including their Family Support Program, a Family Resource Center, Emergency Rent and Utility Assistance, and Disaster Case Management. In addition, Neighborhood Place of Puna offers a Family Emergency Shelter with a primary focus on young children. Of the 66 children sheltered at Hale ‘Iki Family Emergency Shelter 65% were between the ages of 0-5, crucial ages for a child’s healthy development.

Neighborhood Place of Puna also provides early childhood interventions that help disrupt generational poverty and support the healthy development of children. They are committed to helping local, Big Island families, especially single-parent families, find the supports and resources they need as a family. “I appreciate the kind and caring advocate that took time to help out my family in our time of need,” says a former NPP client who was helped with rental assistance funds through Neighborhood Place of Puna Resilience Programs.

“Being a parent is hard. Being a single parent is harder. Ohana Fuel’s generosity ensures that parents can get the help they need.” Paul Normann, Executive Director of Neighborhood Place of Puna
