Teens On Call Ohana Fuels Donation

Teens on Call (TOC) Benefits from Ohana Fuels ‘Fuel Up. Do Good.’ Program

Teens on Call (TOC) was born in 1993 when “Uncle Brian” McCafferty gathered together a group of at-risk young people to help clean out a fire-damaged historic home in Paia.  They were paid a small stipend and provided a healthy meal, but combined with the focused, productive activity, the work created a noticeable change of behavior in many of them.  Soon, with the assistance of Alexander and Baldwin and employees at the Paia Mill, the Paia Youth and Cultural Center was founded in the burned out house.   The teens so enjoyed the paid “work therapy” that TOC continues providing services such as landscaping, carpentry, demolition and cleanup, and other programs more than 25 years later.  Since 1993, guided by its mission “To assist development of an honest work ethic… and encourage good character values…” the organization has provided nearly 3,000 work assignments to interested students.

As the beneficiary of Ohana Fuels’ “Fuel up.  Do good.” program for the fourth quarter of 2019, Teens on Call received a donation of  $5,518.85

“We are grateful to Ohana Fuels for their support of Teens on Call and the other non-profits in our community.  This generous donation will help us on our mission to develop character, values, and a pono work ethic in our young people as they grow into solid community members.”
