Maui Mediation Services benefits from Ohana Fuels $6,412.17 donation

(Wailuku) – Maui Mediation Services (MMS) was the most recent beneficiary of the Ohana Fuels “Fuel Up. Do Good.“ community giving program. Ohana Fuels partners with nonprofit organizations that serve the needs of the local community, and donates a portion of the proceeds from every gallon of gasoline and diesel purchased at Ohana Fuels stations in that community. Maui Mediation Services’ donation included $6,034.17 from first quarter sales, plus an additional $378 in carwash proceeds.

MMS, which started as the Maui Neighborhood Justice Center, has been providing mediation services to Maui County for more than 35 years. Volunteer mediators facilitate a confidential process where two or more people meet to work out mutually acceptable solutions to their problems. The organization now routinely receives more than half of its cases as referrals from Hawaii State Courts. They also provide conflict resolution training opportunities for youth and for the workplace, as well as anger management sessions and meeting facilitation services.

Haku Baldwin Center benefits from Ohana Fuels $8,508 donation

Haku Baldwin Center was the most recent beneficiary of Ohana Fuels’ ‘Fuel Up. Do Good.’ community giving program. Ohana Fuels partners with nonprofit organizations serving the needs of the local community, and donates a portion of the proceeds from every gallon of gasoline purchased at all Ohana Fuels stations in that community. Sales during the 3rd quarter of 2017 resulted in a donation in the amount of $8,508.22 to Haku Baldwin Center.

Haku Baldwin Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that fosters therapeutic partnerships between people and animals with a range of therapeutic programs offered at no cost to the community, including: Animal-Assisted Therapy/Activities, Humane Animal Education, Therapeutic Horseback Riding, and Horsemanship for Veterans.

Family Support Hawaii benefits from Ohana Fuels $9,964.80 donation

Kailua-Kona, HI- Family Support Hawaii was the most recent beneficiary of the Ohana Fuels ‘Fuel Up. Do Good’ program. Ohana Fuels partners with nonprofit organizations that serve the needs of their local community, and donates a portion of every gallon of gasoline purchased at all Ohana Fuels stations in that community. A portion of all 4th quarter sales at all Ohana Fuels locations in the amount of $9,964.80 was donated to Family Support Hawaii.

Family Support Hawaii was founded in 1979 by members of the community who were concerned about the life-long consequences of child abuse and neglect. They began providing prevention and early intervention services through Kapiʻolani Women’s and Children’s Center until 1985, when FSH incorporated and became an independent, community based, non-profit organization. Family Support Hawaii now provides supportive services to more than 3,500 Hawai’i Island individuals and families each year. Family Support Hawaii provides services to the community through a variety of programs, including the Early Intervention Services program, the Early Head Start program, the CWS Home Visiting program, the Early Identification program, the Fatherhood Initiative program, and the NEST (Newborn Enhanced Support Team) program. With this donation, the Family Support Hawaii programs will be able to purchase much-needed therapeutic and educational materials and supplies and a lending library of materials for families, which will greatly support the children and families that are served through the agency. These materials and supplies will support the mission of Family Support Hawaii, which is “to support families and communities in providing love and care for our children”.

Grow Some Good is the most recent beneficiary of Ohana Fuels ‘Fuel Up. Do Good.’ program, in which Ohana Fuels partners with nonprofit organizations that serve the needs of the local community, and donates a portion of every gallon of gasoline purchased at all Ohana Fuels stations in that community. A portion of all 4th quarter sales in 2017 at all Maui Ohana Fuels locations in the amount of $7,376.43 was donated to Grow Some Good.

Mr. Haynes recently visited one of Grow Some Good’s gardens at Pu’u Kukui Elementary School. “I like how Grow Some Good incorporates life lessons into the program, and gives students a hands-on experience in the garden, where they learn about the cycle of life, through planting, harvesting, composting, and other garden activities.”

Big Island Substance Abuse Council receives $10,195.21 donation!

The Big Island Substance Abuse Council (BISAC) is the most recent beneficiary of Ohana Fuels’ “Fuel Up. Do Good.” program. Ohana Fuels partners with nonprofit organizations that serve the needs of the local community, and donates a portion of all sales at Ohana fuels locations in that community. For the second quarter of 2017, a donation in the amount of $10,195.21 was made to BISAC.

Since 1964, BISAC has been inspiring individuals and families to reclaim and enrich their lives in the wake of the ravages of substance abuse. We offer a continuum of services that are culturally appropriate and aligned with the ever-changing behavioral health field. Our highly professional and caring staff is deeply committed to delivering services through our intensive outpatient, therapeutic living, adolescent school based services, adult mental health and Po‘okela vocational programs that truly make a difference in the lives of persons served, and make our community a better place to live.

Aloha House benefits from Ohana Fuels $7,116.06 donation!

On August 11, 2017, local nonprofit Aloha House received a $7,116.06 donation from Ohana Fuels as part of Hawaii Petroleum’s “Fuel up. Do good.” Community Giving Program. Aloha House was chosen to receive a portion of all TOP TIER™ gasoline purchases made at any of the eight Ohana Fuels locations on Maui between April 1 and June 30, 2017. Ohana Fuels also provided space and materials for two car washes at their Wakea Avenue Minit Stop gas station during the three month period, which raised an additional $398.

Aloha House promotes recovery and healthy lifestyles to individuals and families by providing compassionate, effective and comprehensive behavioral health services with the spirit of excellence and aloha. The organization helps more than 6,000 people each year through its substance abuse and mental health treatment programs. Residential and outpatient programs include a medically monitored detox facility, substance abuse/addiction treatment, a sober living program, crisis outreach services, family therapy services, community based case management and Maui Counseling Group clinic.

“We are tremendously grateful to Ohana Fuels for choosing Aloha House as one of its recipient organizations,” said Aloha House Chief Executive Officer, Jud Cunningham. “Funds raised will help ensure that under-served individuals and families can access our services in order to accomplish their recovery, vocational and personal goals. We strive to remove barriers to treatment, and this donation will help us cover the costs of providing care to individuals who otherwise would not be able to get help due to lack of financial resources.”


Aloha House’s two partner agencies – Maui Youth & Family Services and Malama Family Recovery Center – were chosen as Ohana Fuels’ “Fuel up. Pā‘ia, Hawai’i – Pā‘ia Youth & Cultural Center (PYCC) was the most recent beneficiary of the Ohana Fuels Fuel Up, Do Good program. Ohana Fuels partners with nonprofit organizations that serve the needs of the local community, and donates a portion of every gallon of gasoline purchased at all Ohana Fuels stations in that community. A portion of all January, February and March 2017 sales at all Maui Ohana fuels locations in the amount of $6,764.49 was donated to the  Pā‘ia Youth & Cultural Center. Additionally we earned $619 from car wash sales.

Maui Red Cross benefits from Ohana Fuels $6,692.68

WAILUKU, HI – February 22, 2017: The Maui Red Cross was the most recent beneficiary of the Ohana Fuels’ ‘Fuel up. Do Good.’ program. Ohana Fuels partners with nonprofit organizations that serve the needs of local communities by donating a portion of every gallon of gasoline and diesel purchased at Ohana Fuels stations in that community. For the fourth quarter 2016 a total of $6,692.68 was donated to the Maui Red Cross.

“We are so honored to be chosen as the beneficiary for this great community program”, said Michele Liberty, Director of the Maui Red Cross. “We are not a government agency and rely on the generosity and support of Hawaii’s people to provide our critical services to our community.”

Funds raised from this program will support Maui disaster preparedness and response which includes assisting disaster victims with immediate emergency needs such as food, clothing, shelter. In addition, the donation will aid the organziation in conducting its vital community disaster education outreach programs Last year the Maui Red Cross taught disaster preparedness to 293 keiki through “Pillowcase Project Presentations”.

In Maui County, the Red Cross works tirelessly to prevent tragedies from happening, as well as to lend help when disaster does strike. Last fiscal year, the organization installed 78 smoke alarms making 28 homes safer. The Red Cross on Maui also responded to twelve home fires, helping 39displaced family members get back on their feet and start rebuilding their lives after tragedy struck. They also twice opened shelters for residents who were evacuated or unable to return to their residences due to brush fires.
