Hawaii Island Adult Care, Inc. benefits from Ohana Fuels $7,600.65 Donation

Hilo, Hawaii – Hawaii Island Adult Care, Inc. was the most recent beneficiary of the Ohana Fuels “Fuel up. Do good.” Community Giving Program. Ohana Fuels partners with nonprofit organizations that serve the needs of the local community, and donates a portion of every gallon of gasoline purchased at all Ohana Fuels stations in that community. The total donation to Hawaii Island Adult Care, Inc. was $7,600.65 from gasoline sales during the 2nd quarter at all Ohana Fuels locations and proceeds from carwashes held during the quarter.

Serving East Hawaii for 43 years, Hawaii Island Adult Care provides high-quality day care for elderly and challenged adults and support for their families in order to ensure continued living at home – aging in place.   Executive Director Marcie Saquing notes, “it is through partnerships and support from local businesses such as Ohana Fuels, that we are able to continue to serve our kupuna and challenged adults in our community.  We are deeply grateful for their generosity.”  These funds will be used for tuition assistance for those in need.

Parents Inc Ohana Fuels Donation

P.A.R.E.N.T.S., Inc. benefits from Ohana Fuels $6,046.88 donation

East Hawaii – P.A.R.E.N.T.S., Inc. was the most recent beneficiary of the Ohana Fuels “Fuel up. Do good.” Community Giving Program. Ohana Fuels partners with nonprofit organizations that serve the needs of the local community, and donates a portion of the proceeds from every gallon of gasoline purchased at all Ohana Fuels stations in that community.  The total donation to P.A.R.E.N.T.S., Inc. was $6,046.88 from gasoline sales and  proceeds from car washes held at Ohana Fuels stations during the first quarter.

P.A.R.E.N.T.S., Inc., (Providing Awareness, Referrals, Education, Nurturing, Therapy & Support) is a 501(c)(3) organization that has been serving Hawaii’s families since 1975.  As a local organization, PARENTS, Inc. has helped strengthen thousands of families by teaching parents positive parenting skills and techniques in order to prevent child abuse and neglect within our island homes.  Our mission is to strengthen families by providing a full range of prevention, education, and treatment services for men, women, and children.  All preventative, education, and treatment services are multi-ethnic, non-judgmental, non-threatening, supportive, and easily accessible.  Over 4,000 parents and their children benefit from our services annually.

Maui Adult Day Care Ohana Fuels Donation

Maui Adult Day Care Centers benefits from Ohana Fuels $6,312.64 donation

Maui Adult Day Care Centers (MADCC), with five locations throughout Maui County, was the most recent beneficiary of the Ohana Fuels ‘Fuel up. Do Good.’ community giving program.  Ohana Fuels partners with nonprofit organizations that serve the needs of the local community, and donates a portion of the proceeds from every gallon of gasoline purchased at its stations in that community. First quarter sales at Ohana Fuels locations on Maui resulted in a donation in the amount of $6,312.64 to MADCC.

Maui Adult Day Care Centers has served the aging community with love and compassion since 1974.  “We provide a variety of adult day services to individuals aged 18 or over (especially our kupuna) in a safe, supportive, loving, and cheerful environment that embraces the needs of our aging population,” explained Executive Director, Suzanne Antounian.  “We are honored to have this opportunity to partner with Ohana Fuels on their ‘Fuel Up. Do Good.’ program, and extend our heartfelt gratitude to Ohana Fuels and everyone who “fueled-up” at Ohana Fuels stations, or participated in our car washes, during the first quarter.” The money raised will support Maui Adult Day Care Centers activity and scholarship programs.

Arc of Maui County Ohana Fuels Donation

Arc of Maui County benefits from Ohana Fuels $5,261.51 donation

The goal of Arc of Maui County (Arc) is to promote and protect the human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in our community.  The agency is the shared vision of many dedicated parents, family members, people with disabilities, staff and advocates from the community and across the nation.

For over 60 years, Arc of Maui County has provided Vocational Services, Group and Individualized Learning Programs and other services that help to ensure full inclusion and participation in the community to individuals with cognitive or physical disabilities, or both.  Arc’s Residential Services also include six group homes located throughout Maui County.

As the beneficiary of Ohana Fuels’ “Fuel up. Do good.” program for the fourth quarter of 2018, Arc of Maui County received a donation of $5,261.51.

Mental Health America benefits from Ohana Fuels $7,238 donation

The Maui office of Mental Health America of Hawaii was the most recent beneficiary of the Ohana Fuels, ‘Fuel Up. Do Good.’ program. Ohana Fuels partners with nonprofit organizations serving the needs of the local community and donates a portion of the proceeds from every gallon of gasoline purchased at all Ohana Fuels stations in that community. Third quarter sales at Maui Ohana Fuels locations resulted in a $7,238.94 to Mental Health America of Hawaii.

The mission of Mental Health America of Hawaii is promote mental wellness through education, advocacy and service. We endeavor to reduce the stigma of mental illness and improve the overall care, treatment and empowerment of those affected by mental illness, children, adults, elders and their families. Through our leadership, we expand mental health awareness, understanding and action. We advocate to ensure that people with mental health problems have the services they need.

Danielle Bergan, Community Coordinator, said, “Like many non-profits, funding is tight these days and we deeply appreciate Ohana Fuels’ generosity as it will help continue our mission of supporting community members and their families affected by mental illness.”

For over 67 years, Boys & Girls Club of the Big Island (BGCBI) has been at the forefront of youth development.  The organization offers a wide variety of programs across Hawaii Island that ensure safe, nurturing and fun environments for our youth, and encourage participation in activities that inspire academic success, healthy lifestyles, and leadership & character building.  BGCBI works in support of families and lays foundations that emphasize the promotion of diversity, the teaching of positive values, the importance of education and career exploration, and the opportunities to enhance life skills.  All for just $10 per year per participant!

Big Island Neighborhood of Puna Ohana Fuels Donation

Neighborhood Place of Puna benefits from Ohana Fuels $6,621.81 donation

Puna Hawaii – Neighborhood Place of Puna was the most recent beneficiary of the Ohana Fuels ‘Fuel Up.  Do Good’ program. Ohana Fuels partners with nonprofit organizations that serve the needs of the local community, and donates a portion of the proceeds from every gallon of gasoline purchased at Ohana Fuels stations in that community.  For the third quarter (July 1st to September 30th) a total of $6,621.81 was donated to Neighborhood Place of Puna.

Neighborhood Place of Puna is part of a coalition of non-profits responding the Kilauea eruption. Together, they have housed 133 impacted households, and have provided other support such as emergency airfare, financial assistance, and crisis counseling to individuals and families directly affected by the eruption.

“No single organization or agency can do it all! We are better and more effective when we work together. This donation from Ohana Fuels will help us – Neighborhood Place of Puna – continue to do our part in helping those whose lives have been turned upside down by the Kilauea eruption,” said Paul Norman, Executive Director of Neighborhood Place of Puna. 

Added Kimo Haynes, President of Hawaii Petroleum, “We can only imagine the heartbreak and uncertainty caused by the Kilauea eruption.  As members of the Big Island community, we at Ohana Fuels feel it is our duty to assist Puna residents, and we applaud Neighborhood Place and all the other organizations for their efforts, as well.”

Na Hoaloha Ohana Fuels Donation

Nā Hoaloha benefits from Ohana Fuels $6,836.38 donation

Maui – Nā Hoaloha was the most recent beneficiary of the Ohana Fuels ‘Fuel Up. Do Good’ program. Ohana Fuels partners with nonprofit organizations that serve the needs of the local community and donates a portion of the proceeds from every gallon of gasoline purchased at Ohana Fuels stations in that community. Second quarter sales resulted in a donation to Na Hoaloha in the amount of $6,836.38.

Nā Hoaloha (Loving Friends) is a grassroots organization whose mission is to provide compassionate care to seniors and persons with disabilities to help them remain independent and to enhance their quality of life. “Kupuna in rural areas are challenged in accessing resources and have a greater risk of isolation. The contributions received from the ‘Fuel Up. Do Good.’ community giving program from Ohana Fuels, and the car wash revenue, will go far in supporting Nā Hoaloha’s rural development and outreach program,” said Judy Guajardo, Volunteer Coordinator for Nā Hoaloha. “Falls Risk Assessments, Telephone Reassurance and Early Detection for Dementia are a few of the services that can make a big difference in helping a senior live longer and healthier. We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with Ohana Fuels in such a meaningful way.”

Hawaii County Economic Opportunity Council benefits from Ohana Fuels $8,514.51 donation

Hilo, Hawaii  – On July 26, 2018, the Hawaii County Economic Opportunity Council (HCEOC) became the most recent beneficiary of the Ohana Fuels ‘Fuel Up. Do Good.’ program. Ohana Fuels partners with nonprofit organizations that serve the needs of the local community, and donates a portion of the proceeds from every gallon of gasoline purchased at Ohana Fuels stations in that community. Second quarter sales resulted in a donation to the Hawaii County Economic Opportunity Council in the amount of $8,514.51.

HCEOC is a Community Action Agency established in 1965 that strives to alleviate the symptoms of poverty and assist the most vulnerable in our community.  The agency works through many programs including the Senior Farmers Market Coupon program, the Low income Housing Energy Assistance Program, and the Weatherization Assistance Program.  In addition, they also provide transportation for handicapped, low-income, and senior clients, meals for students, housing preservation grants and education programs.

“The Board and Staff of Hawaii County Economic Opportunity Council are grateful for the generosity of Ohana Fuels in helping our organization, and the poor and vulnerable in our community,” said Jay Kimura, Executive Director.  “These funds go a long way in supporting the HCEOC mission and in addressing the issues of poverty.”

Brantley Center Ohana Fuels Donation

Brantley Center Inc. benefits from Ohana Fuels $8,795.92 donation

Honoka’a, Hawaii – Brantley Center was the most recent beneficiary of the Ohana Fuels ‘Fuel Up. Do Good.’ community giving program. Ohana Fuels partners with nonprofit organizations that serve the needs of the local community, and donates a portion of the proceeds from every gallon of gasoline and diesel purchased at Ohana Fuels stations in that community. The donation made to Brantley Center from first quarter sales at Big Island Ohana Fuels locations was $ 8,795.92.

Contributions provided by Ohana Fuels will be used to support Brantley Center’s mission: “To provide quality rehabilitation services that empower people with special needs to participate independently within their community through vocational skills education, job-readiness classes, or training in independent living skills.” The donation will allow the center to purchase much needed up-to-date equipment. Brantley Center’s Program Director Dareth Pung-Boteilho said, “With the new equipment, we will be able to expand our case load and offer services to additional clients. We are extremely grateful for Ohana Fuels and their generous support of local charities.”
