Hui No Ke Ola Pono is a private, not for profit community-based health enhancement, disease prevention and health care center. Hui No Ke Ola Pono is one of five Native Hawaiian Health Care Systems created under the Native Hawaiian Health Care Act of 1988. We provide programs on nutrition, health management and health care referrals for the community of Maui in a culturally caring manner.

HNKOP operates programs throughout Maui that help support family health for the Native Hawaiian community. Our mission is to improve the health status of this community by empowering the present and future generations to be their own health advocates. Hui No Ke Ola Pono serves as a “bridge” to the Native Hawaiian community by integrating medical care with traditional Hawaiian values, beliefs and practices. HNKOP is thankful to Ohana Fuels and their supportive ‘Fuel up. Do Good.’ Community Giving Program, especially during this unprecedented year we’ve all endured. The generous donation will be used to support ongoing programs such as our Traditional Native Hawaiian Practices programs, Produce Box distributions and Enabling Services that will benefit the Native Hawaiian communities here on Maui.

AILH Fuel Up Do Good

Aloha Independent Living Hawaii (AILH) Benefits from Ohana Fuels ‘Fuel Up. Do Good.’ Program

AILH’s mission is to provide Independent Living Services and programs for persons with disabilities throughout the Hawaiian Islands. AILH was founded by a group of experienced, committed, and dedicated professionals who wanted to give persons with disabilities in Hawaii the choice of where to receive independent living services. The majority of board members and staff are persons with disabilities. Recent AILH activities have moved online and include Fitness Fridays and other Zoom support groups, as well as other social activities. These events have really helped our consumers connect with new peers on the outer islands.

With the help of Ohana Fuels, our critical services can continue to be offered to our consumers throughout the Big Island at no cost to them. Big Island services include regular support groups that service Youth, Women, and Mixed Groups. Other Big Island support services include referral services for housing, transportation, medical assistance, independent living skills training, group activities, and other projects that help empower persons with disabilities to make choices in their lives that will enhance their dignity and self-respect and provide full integration into the community as equal citizens with all the privileges and responsibilities available to others.

Teens On Call Ohana Fuels Donation

Teens on Call (TOC) Benefits from Ohana Fuels ‘Fuel Up. Do Good.’ Program

Teens on Call (TOC) was born in 1993 when “Uncle Brian” McCafferty gathered together a group of at-risk young people to help clean out a fire-damaged historic home in Paia.  They were paid a small stipend and provided a healthy meal, but combined with the focused, productive activity, the work created a noticeable change of behavior in many of them.  Soon, with the assistance of Alexander and Baldwin and employees at the Paia Mill, the Paia Youth and Cultural Center was founded in the burned out house.   The teens so enjoyed the paid “work therapy” that TOC continues providing services such as landscaping, carpentry, demolition and cleanup, and other programs more than 25 years later.  Since 1993, guided by its mission “To assist development of an honest work ethic… and encourage good character values…” the organization has provided nearly 3,000 work assignments to interested students.

As the beneficiary of Ohana Fuels’ “Fuel up.  Do good.” program for the fourth quarter of 2019, Teens on Call received a donation of  $5,518.85

“We are grateful to Ohana Fuels for their support of Teens on Call and the other non-profits in our community.  This generous donation will help us on our mission to develop character, values, and a pono work ethic in our young people as they grow into solid community members.”
